Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representatives who failed to render good service will not be renominated to contest the next general election.
Kedah Umno liaison chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the candidates picked will have to be accepted by the people and have a winning chance.
"Only those who serve the people well will be picked as candidates. The Prime Minister has made this a pirority," he told reporters on Sunday.
The Prime Minister will evaluate work done by elected representatives before deciding to retain or replace them with others.
Bashah who was recently appointed as head of Kedah Umno said that he hopes to call for his first meeting very soon.
