VOTE FOR YOURSELF – “ATAS PAGAR”

Written by gkm2020

The political landscape of this state is outrageously corrupt and dirty.

The more money a candidate has, the better his or her chances are of getting elected. Lobbyists, big corporations, cronies and donors have more influence over election results and legislation than any group of voters.

The right to choose a government falls in our own hand to pen our vote which political component should take charge of the next government. The right to protect our future and seeking peace, justice, liberty, equality and betterment is by You.

We all have our choice. We all have our dignity. We all have our pride and belief. If you choose to stick with wicked governance, pursuing conflict of interest (divide & rule) and self-greed, that’s your right too. The only difference in us is either you want to finish well or the other way round.

Who will stand up for you?

Who is there to protect and defend you and your land? Who when the forces of privilege raise their voice will raise their voice for you? Who when the economy is on the line and poverty is unbearable will be your spokesman, who will always put your standard of living first? And who will fight for your family because they know what it is to walk in your shoes?

Remember, elections are not just contests of individual and/or political interests but they challenge us as a person to live up to our best ideals.

But why are things this way?

Why do we allow our supposed leaders and/or elected representatives to take bribes, abuse power and run the country/state the way they wish instead of the way the people wish for it to be run? Why are these people elected in the first place? Unfortunately, there are no easy answers to these questions.

The one-sided media propaganda helps to sway voters a certain way. Associations, unions and the corporate capitalists endorse candidates that will benefit them.

Neighbors, canvassers, religious groups and other external pressures try to convince you that their candidate or their party is more in line with your state of mind, or better for the state.

Therefore, it is certainly understandable that people decide not partake in such a dirty system; it is easier to tell yourself that you are not a part of the problem if you are not an active participant. But your inaction actually tells the government that everything they are doing is “OK” and they continue to legislate accordingly.

“Ngundi Diri Empu” maya bepilih tu ila

To those who are undecided, and I know there are many, let me say:

When you are tired of the options out there, then it’s time to vote for yourself in the next election. BN too nationalize for you? PR‘s too moderate for you? Or do they all just speak in the same ‘snake tongues’? Or it’s better to remain as “Atas Pagar” voter?

Here is your chance to make a difference. Take two seconds of your thought to this petition to show our leaders that you are fed up with the status quo and you want Sarawak to be better than this.

You want your leaders to be REAL people with REAL answers to what will make your life better and a stronger Sarawak. We hope to have thousands of votes by the next elections.

Why “Vote For Yourself”?

  • Vote for Yourself, do not need any support (money or ideology) from others because you’re the principal voter, and decide the way you want your world to be.
  • Vote for Yourself, is an anti-totalitarian political forces (“The Fourth Element”) to block the expansion of totalitarian rule (a political system where the state, usually under the control of a single political person, faction, or class, recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible).
  • Vote for Yourself, is our native duty to demand, protect and defend our greater rights (native rights, native lands and equity).
  • Vote for Yourself, because you do not owe no one or YB or any political party’s favor but yourself and the faith of your next generation (your children and their grandchildren).
  • Vote for Yourself, that Dayak shall have the right to manifest, practice, develop and teach their spiritual and religious traditions, customs and ceremonies; the right to maintain, protect and have access to their religious and cultural sites; the right to use and control of ceremonial objects; and, the right to the repatriation of human remains.
  • Vote for Yourself, the State shall take effective measures, in cooperation with the Dayak concerned to ensure that native sacred places, including burial sites, be preserved, respected and protected.
  • Vote for Yourself, against illegal land encroachment, force eviction, displacement, blackmail and force resettlement.
  • Vote for Yourself, is an “anti-dibolotmen movement” by authoritarian political leadership.
  • Vote for Yourself, is a very determine “Dayakism Communitarian Mindset” as a new whole chapter devoted to indigenous rights.
  • Vote for Yourself, is “Rebuilding Dayak Solidarity”; our Dayak unity, pride, courage, warriorism and dignity.
  • Vote for Yourself, whoever protect, defend and uphold our “Dayak Indigenous Rights” to self-determination, self-prosperity, self-governance and empowerment, and behold our “Native Adat” and “Native Court”.
  • Vote for Yourself, to determine and decide Dayak own priorities for development affecting their lives, beliefs, institutions, spiritual well-being, and the lands they own, occupy or use.
  • Vote for Yourself, to participate in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of policies, plans and programs for national, regional and local development which may directly affect them.
  • Vote for Yourself, because you want the State government to recognize and respect the role of independent Dayak organizations to enable the Dayak to pursue and protect their legitimate and collective interests and aspirations through peaceful and lawful means.
  • Vote for Yourself, to exercise your power to protest and campaign on behalf of the Dayak people, whose hearts beat strong in the faith that we do not stand alone but in unity.
  • Vote for Yourself, is to vote “Change We Must” collaborating for indigenous rights and outlaw dirty politics, racial discrimination, marginalization, injustice, double standard policies, religious and historical assimilation, dispossession, systematic land alienation, force eviction and bulldozing, divide and rule policies.

  • Vote for Yourself, to promote unpopular vote for native popular issues (more than 200 NCR Land legal cases, natives lock-up, Rajang logjam, Penan rapes, illegal logging, etc).
  • Vote for Yourself, promote “Power Decentralisztion” to four (4) levels of autonomy(s); departmental, regional, municipal and indigenous.

  • Vote for Yourself, that there is no evidence that the Government is prepared to spend the considerable amount of money needed to sincerely survey and give individual native titles to the Dayaks, and to allocate financial resources and/or Native Special Economic Funds/Grants for the natives to develop their own NCR land by themselves into a prosperous and enlightened “NCR Economic Land Development Zone” or “Mini Independent Native Estate (MINE)” or “Village Cooperative Farming (VCF)”.
  • Vote for Yourself, because we do not want or allow others to meddle with our native rights and develop our lands on our behalf.
  • Vote for Yourself, is to urge the State Government to allow a thorough investigation by competent people, free of racial prejudice, into ways and means of developing Dayak NCR lands in accordance with what the people themselves want.
  • Vote for Yourself, to empower our Adat jurisdiction and laws that all headmen and/or village chiefs (Tuai Rumah, Penghulu, Pemancha and Temenggong) will be elected by our “Dayak Adat Tribal Council”, and no longer appointed and/or nominated as proxy or nominee by others.
  • Vote for Yourself, because you believe in God, social justice and human rights, cultural integrity and pure Dayaks’ course.
  • Vote for Yourself, to defuse yourself from any political ideologies and wicked policies, and we are able to convince ourselves that the reason “I vote myself” is because we are not prejudice but a respect for our native rights and privileges as stated in our Federal/State constitution, and as written in the UN Declaration of Indigenous Rights.
  • Vote for yourself, is to vote for your “Voice, Opportunity, Trust & Equity. (VOTE)”, your family, your tribes, your NCR lands and your future.

You are the “Mr. Taxpayer”

You are an adult. You are an indigenous Dayak. You’re a citizen of Malaysia. It is your land and country, so isn’t it times you decided how your taxes are spent and how your country is managed?

Who can decide what you want better than you?

If you can’t decide between parties it is probably because you realize that there are no good choices. Do you have alternative solution?

We must move away from our 47 years old political system and ideology which encourages frustration, corruption, injustice, double standard, control and greed, divide and rule, to a fresh, new, fair and equal democracy giving us our say on everything.

This is your democratic birthright that is being withheld from you. Use your self-power in your native blood by “Vote for Yourself” to protect and defend our indigenous rights, customary land rights, supreme Adat, native court, equality and equity in the national economics mainstream.

Conclusion

Vote yourself to turn the pyramid of power and placing the Rakyat above and in control of the government.

Anang Nyual Semangat, Anang Alah Semangat, Anang Jugau, Anang Ngelak Ka Orang, Anang Alah Bulu – Undi Nuan Pengidup Nuan, Undi Nuan Pemansang Bansa Kitai!

“ATAS PAGAR” starts your own Change by voting for yourself. The future we know it is ours to win. My vote goes to the person who advocates all the above. Thank you.
