‘Diamond ring documents cannot be trusted’

A PKR leader says the documents are riddled with contradictory information, and wants Rosmah to clear the air.

PETALING JAYA: The documents claiming that the diamond ring allegedly acquired by Rosmah Mansor was brought to Malaysia for a private exhibition is riddled with contradictory information, according to a PKR leader.

Rembau PKR chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin said the latest revelation cannot be trusted and did not mean that the prime minister’s wife was off the hook.

“This does not mean that Rosmah can now go free, she still has a lot of explanation to do,” he added.

Last week, Badrul filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after news broke that Rosmah allegedly purchased the ring, worth RM73 million, from New York-based fine jeweller Jacob & Co.

The reports were based on the screenshots of customs records, which stated that Rosmah had inspected the arrival of a “natural fancy blue cushion cut diamond ring” at the KLIA cargo on April 16.

‘Khairy not behind it’

Previously, Badrul also claimed that customs officer A Krishnan, who was in charge of clearing the ring, had been detained by the MACC.

Following this, new customs documents surfaced claiming that the ring was brought in for a private exhibition. It also claimed that the ring was worth RM24 million.

Meanwhile, Badrul also called on Rosmah to explain the allegation that she purchased a diamond bangle and diamond watch from Jacob & Co, worth nearly RM1.5 million.

He said that while the opposition and public have demanded answers, Rosmah, however, continued to be mum.

Badrul also denied the allegation by several pro-Umno bloggers that Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin was behind the diamond expose.
