Wira Perkasa wants Bukit Aman-Israeli link probed

Wira Perkasa, the Youth arm of the right wing Malay rights group, today urged the authorities to investigate claims of Israel having had business dealing with Bukit Aman.

Wira Perkasa chief Irwan Fahmi Idris said the police must probe the issue as it would pose a "threat to the country" if proven to be true.

"This is not a small issue, (if there is) involvement of Israel, Singapore... It has been exposed on four blogs over the past three weeks," he said at a press conference after lodging a police report at the Dang Wangi police station.

NONEIrwan (left) said that they have gathered documented proof based on the information found on the blogs, allegedly proving the existence of a company - said to have Israeli ties- that had secured contracts with the police.

"The relevant parties must clarify the issue. The veracity of these claims must be investigated, because (the blogs are) so detailed... They even have the number of the contract and (company) name (listed with) the Securities Commission," he said.

Irwan however avoided stating who exactly they thought was involved in the controversy, saying it is up to the authorities to find out.

"I don't dare say (who is involved), that's why it needs to be investigated. Our country has laws and each and every person needs to follow the law.

"It is possible there was abuse of power, maybe a contract was awarded... We urge the authorities to really investigate the matter because it is a national issue, bukan main-main (not a game)," Irwan said.

It is understood that several blogs have published claims over the past few weeks that companies with links to Israel have secured contracts from Bukit Aman.

This follows an earlier claim that the police had used chemicals and tear gas canisters made in Israel during the police crackdown on Bersih 2.0 protesters during their July 9 rally.

The police however have since denied the claim, stating that the chemicals were made in Switzerland while the canisters were American made. - Malaysiakini
