Najib happy about Indians’ rising ‘nambikkai’ in BN

IJOK, April 28 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today the Indian community’s ‘nambikkai’ (trust) in him and the Barisan Nasional (BN) is on the rise and will pay off in the 13th General Election because every step taken to resolve their issues since he took over the nation’s leadership has shown positive results.
The BN chairman (picture) stressed that the government’s continuous political and socio-economic development agenda, particularly for the Indians, had clearly regained the confidence of the community.
“It’s something we can be proud of. Today, the Indian community’s ‘nambikkai’ (trust) in the BN is higher than ever. We’ve done a great deal for everyone, including the Indians.
“I have chaired the Cabinet Committee on Indian Affairs since 2008. And I have implemented various programmes to assist the community,” he said at the opening of the Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Bestari Jaya, here.
He said no one could deny the BN government’s commitment and struggle for the future of the Indian community.
“We have listed at length in a book everything we have done for the Indian community. This is a clear blueprint which will further increase their confidence.
“The MIC has confidence in us (BN) and so have the PPP (People’s Progressive Party) and our other component parties, and the IPF (Indian Progressive Front).
Even Hindraf (Hindu Rights Action Force) is confident.
“And the two main reasons for this are, one, BN has helped the Indians a great deal, and, two, the opposition pact has failed to help them,” he said to cheers from the more than 3,000 people at the function.
Najib said the BN was proud to list all its development achievements for the Indian community in detail but the opposition pact could not do the same because it had done so little.
He also said that the school would get aid to build a multi-purpose hall. — Bernama
