Pakatan Rakyat has growing concern with indications of electoral fraud and so that Malaysians are fully aware that we have to come out in maximum numbers on Sunday to vote to overcome the possibility of this fraud. There are 3 aspects of this fraud.

Massive numbers: 50,000 journalists?

One is the massive numbers involved in postal voting process over 250,000 people have been issued postal ballots. Now we have verified there were over 50,000 actually issued to media personnel, so it seems shocking that suddenly the media industry in this country has grown to 50,000. Who are this 50,000 people who been issued postal ballots and who have apparently cast these ballots?

That's one big concern because there is no transparency in the process. We don't know where ballot papers have been kept, we don't know what has been done with the ballot papers. We only know that of course in the established process that these ballot papers will be opened on Sunday at 5 o'clock and will be counted. We know from previous history that it's those postal ballots that are suddenly use to transform, to change the outcome in that particular constituency.

Security of ballot boxes in question

The second concern is about the security of the ballot papers used for early voting process. We know of course the boxes are sealed, we know that they have been kept, for example in Subang the boxes for Subang constituency are being kept in USJ police station. But we still remain concerned because we have the same concerns about who is actually having access to the process because we have been told that we can't access, so we can't watch those ballot boxes and these will be kept in so-called secure places like lockups and only opened on Sunday. So our concerns remain about those ballot boxes.

Real or fake Malaysians?

Third is now this emerging information about large numbers, we are talking about 40,000 - 50,000 possibly even more voters being airlifted from Sabah possibly Sarawak as well to come to vote in critical seats in West Malaysia, with specific focus on Selangor. And we see now the flip-flopping position of Umno-Barisan Nasional initially denying it and now finally saying 'we accept those flights are real, it's actually happening and some friendly people are paying for them'. We are not concerned about who's paying for them, we are concerned about who is sitting in the planes to vote, that's the issue.

We are concerned about whether those people are legitimate voters or fraudulent registration and that is the concern. Who are these people who are flying in tens of thousands from Sabah to vote in Selangor. Are they real Malaysians, are they fake Malaysians who been illegally given blue ICs and registered? And if that is the case, then officials in the SPR (Election Commission), the Home Ministry are acting in conspiracy to commit an offence that for me is comparable to treason, where you commit treason on the interest of Malaysian people to a free and fair election by allowing this to happen.

Full weight of the law

And again, I will reiterate the Pakatan Rakyat warning to all officials, public service who are involved - if we find you involved in this process later, the full weight of the law will be thrown at you. If you are found to be involved, under now PR government please take note, that these acts by any senior civil servant from the SPR, from the others ministries, (if you are) established to be involved in any of this will, you meet the full weight of the law because this is an offense which will be treat as a very serious offense.
