KUALA LUMPUR: Umno veteran Tan Sri Isa Samad has confirmed that he will contest for the vice-president post in the upcoming party polls slated in October.
The 64-year-old Felda chairman made the announcement, which ended months of speculation over his political future, today.
"I would like to announce that I will contest for the vice president post in the party," Isa said, "I will use my experience to help the party to win more support from the people."
Isa made the announcement after he launched Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd's (Delima Oil) bath soaps and shower cream product this morning.
Delima Oil is an associate company of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV).
Rumours over his intention started to swirled after an online news portal reported that he was overheard offering himself for the post at a breaking fast ceremony last month with his friends.
