NAJIB GETS READY TO SACK CABINET CRITICS Even Tunku Aziz tells PM not to be 'LEMAH LEMBUT'
KUALA LUMPUR - Former DAP vice-president Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim today urged the cabinet ministers to accept the principle of collective responsibility after many have failed to stand up against prime minister Najib Razak's critics on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue.
He told Berita Daily in an interview today that as for now, nobody from the Barisan Nasional administration has stood up to be counted, adding that they are 'keeping themselves to themselves'‎.
"The ministers must accept collective responsibility and stand up with Najib. So far no one has stood up to be counted."
"They are keeping themselves to themselves and have left Najib in the lion's den while they stayed outside," Tunku Aziz said in an interview.
Tunku Aziz, who is a board member of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), supported Najib's ultimatum that those who disagree with him should resign from the cabinet.
He added that Najib has appointed them to be in his administration, thus it is not wrong for him to demand for the resignation of his subordinates.
"Najib has appointed you at his pleasure and he has the right to call for your resignation.
"They still have a lot to learn and they must speak to the prime minister. It is like playing football. Najib needs a team player. There is no need to have 11 brilliant players but fail to play as a team.
"Everyone has to be responsible; moreover your superior is under fire from certain individuals," he added.
He also suggested that Najib get rid of several deadwood in his cabinet in his next cabinet reshuffle.
"Get rid of the deadwood in the next cabinet reshuffle. That is what needs to be done," he said.
No need to attend any forum or dialogue
Tunku Aziz
Tunku Aziz, who was present at the aborted 'Nothing2hide' forum last week, also said there is no need for the Pekan-born prime minister to ‎appear at any forum to explain the fiasco surrounding 1MDB as the matter is still under investigation.
He said that it is unnecessary for Najib to explain the issue just to satisfy one man's ego, referring to ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"I don't think the PM should be brought to a venue to explain anything. The matter is under investigation.
"We just have to wait for the outcome and why do we need to jump just because we want to satisfy one man's ego? He is no longer the prime minister and we should accept the fact that his right as a citizen is the same like you and me," Tunku said.
Najib was scheduled to address the forum but was advised by the police to stay away at the last minute over security concerns. Mahathir turned up and was allowed by the organisers to address the audience but was stopped by police about nine minutes into his speech.
However, Tunku Aziz acknowledged that Najib must start making hard decisions, adding that the Umno president must stop being soft in making his own judgment.
"He should stop being 'lemah lembut' and must be hard when it comes to decision making.
"He must make hard choices in order to be a good leader," he added. - http://www.beritadaily.com/
