Stop the hypocrisy over gymnast’s ‘aurat’ – Khoo Teng Shin

The ruckus over national gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi's aurat which made not only national but international news has brought me to share my two cents' worth on the matter. This is from my limited personal observations and knowledge of Islam, I must admit. It is solely my personal opinion on an urgently rising situation and atmosphere which should no longer be ignored due to its potentially dangerous nature.
However, due to a preponderance of certain Malaysians to condemn and label any non-Muslim who dares to so much as comment on any issue which involves a Muslim to be an enemy of Islam, I must state clearly that, this is NOT an article targeted at Islam.
Regardless of how I might not believe in some teachings of Islam personally, I respect Islam as a good religion and certainly anyone's right to practise its teachings.
Although we might not necessarily share the same beliefs on religion, political views or where the best Nasi Lemak stall is, we remain best of friends and that's what makes us humans and not machines.
Any religion is a personal issue between the person and God. Such is the case with Farah.
However wrong the other Muslims might think of her, it will be solely her business with Allah. When have you, mere mortal human beings with imperfections who claim to be religious, become so arrogant as to judge her and insult her? I don't remember Allah appointing you as the prophet.
Just as much as smoking was declared to be haram by the National Fatwa Council in 1995, I do not recall smokers being treated with such similar disrespect and degrading judgements. (Certainly, none of these name-calling judgemental people must smoke).
Why is there such hypocrisy?  So, with all due respect keep your opinions of Farah to yourself.
To clarify again, we non-Muslims are not insulting Islam at all, we are merely insulting the ignorance and arrogance of those who have insulted Farah and the many similar cases in the past.
Islam is a good religion and I respect that. I just disrespect people who give Islam a bad name.
I do, however, also respect your rights to advise Farah as another fellow Muslim on the issue of aurat and more, but definitely not to the extent of degrading and disrespectful insults.
At least in my opinion, there are very not-so-subtle differences between what qualifies as a sincere advice, insult, name-calling or the cursing of who goes to hell, of which I am certain, despite my lack of knowledge on Islam, is definitely against Islamic principles of love and compassion.
