PUTRAJAYA: The Task Force probing the financial dealings of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (IMDB) wants to question Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil once again, the sovereign fund’s former chief investment officer but have been unsuccessful in tracking him down despite a travel ban being issued on him.
Task Force investigators had earlier questioned Nik Faisal, managing director of SRC International Sdn Bhd, a company alleged to have channelled funds into the private bank accounts of Prime Minister Najib Razak. The company was incorporated by 1MDB in 2011 before it was taken over by the Finance Ministry a year later.
The Task Force also wants to question former long-serving public servant Suboh Mohd Yassin of Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd, one of the two companies used as a conduit to transfer accounts from SRC to a private bank account in AmBank.
Both Suboh and Nik Faisal are shareholders of Gandingan Mentari.
Controversial businessman Jho Low is the third individual wanted by the Task Force and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has already summoned him in for questioning.
It is understood that Nik Faisal could already be out of the country. Apart from him, there is already a travel ban out on several others connected to the 1MDB probe.
“Faisal was questioned several times earlier. But investigators have not been able to get in touch with him lately,” said a source in the report carried by The Star Online.
