'HIGH-LEVEL' PROBE STARTS TO STINK: AG & gang can't even tell how many bank accounts Najib has

'HIGH-LEVEL' PROBE STARTS TO STINK: AG & gang can't even tell how many bank accounts Najib has
KUALA LUMPUR - The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) has questioned why the frozen accounts reported in the media purportedly belonging to Prime Minister Najib Razak do not match those revealed in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report.
“Media reports have revealed that three of the six accounts frozen by the special task force investigating the moving of RM2.6 billion in 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad) funds are owned by the prime minister,” said Bersih 2.0 in a statement today.
“It’s strange though that the frozen accounts are not the same as the accounts revealed in The Wall Street Journal report. Are the frozen accounts really the Prime Minister’s? How many personal accounts does he own in the said banks?” they asked.
Following a similar call this morning by PKR Youth leader Nik Nazmi, Bersih 2.0 said that it was not right that Najib continue leading the government in light of the recent revelations challenging his credibility and integrity as prime minister, or even during current investigations.
They stated that their concern with this financial scandal was that the 1MDB funds were used to “buy” the 13th General Elections.
“As such, Bersih 2.0 would request Najib Razak to take an immediate leave of absence and to vacate the post of Finance Minister so that investigations can be carried out freely and credibly,” said Bersih 2.0.
“If he refuses to do so, we confidently believe that the rakyat of Malaysia are ready to escort him and his family out.”
The special task force set up to investigate allegations of funds having been channelled to the prime minister’s personal accounts yesterday, ordered a freeze on six bank accounts of people believed to be involved in the case. - FMT
