Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today called on Muslims to continuously perform their religious duties and not confine it to the month of Ramadan, which is nearing its end.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise to Allah), I had the opportunity to perform Friday prayers with fellow Muslims in the afternoon. Most likely today will be the last Friday in the month of Ramadan before we celebrate Syawal (Aidilfirti) this year.

"I hope our religious duties will not only be confined to Ramadan, but continued in the months ahead, InsyaAllah," said the prime minister on his Facebook page.

This year's Ramadan is expected to end on Thursday, July 16 and Muslims in the country are expected to welcome the first day of Syawal (Hari Raya) on Friday.
