Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has declared he is not the "old man" suspected by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be involved in a plot to topple the government.
Tengku Razaleigh's said this to Sin Chew Daily last night, through an aide.
His aide said Tengku Razaleigh was at home on Sunday night and did not pay Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak a visit.
On Saturday, Zahid (on the right in photo) claimed that an MP from Umno was involved in a plot to "topple" the federal government.
He claimed that the MP was securing statutory declarations from BN and opposition MPs to prove that they had the majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
Zahid, who is also home minister, refused to name the person, sparking a flurry of speculation on who this person was and whether he existed at all.
On Sunday, Zahid claimed that the person and repented and was scheduled to meet Najib on Sunday night.
Najib reached home at about 8pm and there was no sign of any visit from any MP.
