After free petrol for 1,500 people, man to give out free rice

A man who caused a stir on social media after he offered free petrol to some 1,500 motorcyclists, will now be offering free rice as part of his next charity project.
Yesterday, Abd Ghani Haron, who runs a catering business, spent almost four hours pumping petrol for motorcyclists at Tikam Batu Shell station in Kedah, and he also paid for it.
"More than 1,500 motorcyclists came to fill their tanks and by the end of it, it cost me RM5,913.00. This programme was meant to help alleviate people's burden.
"I really hope this programme will inspire others, especially YBs, ministers and many millionaires out there, to share their wealth and help the people.
"Don't just talk, do," he said in a Facebook posting.
Abu Ghani had announced on Facebook a day earlier about his plans to distribute free petrol to motorcyclists.
In another Facebook post, Abu Ghani said he planned to hold another round of free petrol next month.
But before that, he plans to give out free rice at the middle of this month, he said in another Facebook page.

"God willing, I will give out 2,000 bags of rice weighing a total of 10 tonnes to those who need them, which will cost around RM20,000," he said.
He also invited those interested to join his charity project.
The price of fuel rose to the highest level this year.
RON95 was priced at RM1.95 per litre, RON97 at RM2.30 per litre and diesel at RM2 a litre.
Fuel prices in Malaysia is determined based on a control float system that depends on the global crude oil prices as well as the country's currency strength.
