A police team has raided the Bersih office in Petaling Jaya this afternoon on the eve of its rally which among others demands the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Bersih steering committee member Mandeep Singh told Malaysiakini the raid is being carried out under Section 124C of the Penal Code.
Section 124C relates to attempts to carry out activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
“There are some 10 policemen at our office now, we have been informed that they want to confiscate our things.
“Our lawyers are handling the matter,” said Mandeep.
Bersih is being investigated under Section 124C with regard to funding it received from Open Society Foundations, which is linked to billionaire George Soros.
