Anwar’s lawyers will look into the grounds of judgment

Anwar Ibrahim's lawyers in the Sodomy II trial will look into the grounds of the judgment delivered by the Federal Court in the review application today, one of them, N Surendran, said.
“We will study it and consult with our client (on the next course of action),” Surendran, who is also Padang Serai MP, said.
Asked whether they will consider filing for a pardon, he said there is an application that is to be heard by the Court of Appeal next month.
This is the judicial review application filed by Anwar and his family to challenge the decision of the Pardons Board rejecting him from getting a pardon, resulting in Anwar losing his Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat.
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur on July 15 dismissed his judicial challenge bid on the Pardons Board’s decision.
Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar maintained that her father is innocent, that the charge is politically motivated and that the family was studying other avenues.

One of the prosecutors who acted in Anwar's review bid today said the former opposition leader has exhausted all his legal avenues to challenge his conviction and sentence.
DPP Tengku Amir Zaki Tengku Abdul Rahman said this when met after the Federal Court decision was announced.
“He has exhausted all his legal avenues. As far as the court is concerned, Anwar has exhausted all moves, unless he is granted a royal pardon,” Tengku Amir Zaki said.- Mkini
