Only 25 out of 750 nominated receive Selangor awards

All recipients have undergone vetting by police, Insolvency Department and MACC.

SHAH ALAM: Only 25 out of the 750 individuals nominated were selected to receive state honours in conjunction with the 71st birthday of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah this Sunday.
State Secretary Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya said only two out of the 25 would be conferred the Darjah Kerabat Selangor Yang Amat Dihormati (DK) award.
Two individuals will be conferred the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (S.P.M.S) award which carries the title “Datuk Seri” while two others will receive the Datuk Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (S.S.I.S) honour that carries the “Datuk Setia” title, he said in a statement here today.
Nineteen others will receive the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor (D.P.M.S) and Datuk-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (D.S.I.S) awards, both of which carry the “Datuk” title for men and “Datin Paduka” for women.
Six athletes will be conferred awards and medals for the Kebesaran Sukan Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, which was introduced by the sultan last year.
Five will be conferred the Darjah Kebesaran-Ahli Kegemilangan Sukan Selangor (AKS) award and the other the Bintang Kecemerlangan Sukan Selangor (BKS) medal.
The six have brought sports glory for state and country at prestigious international meets like the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and SEA Games.
Amin said all recipients had undergone three levels of vetting, namely the Royal Malaysia Police (Security and Crimes), Insolvency Department and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
He added that this year, the state government received 1,654 applications for state honours.
The were 750 nomination for awards and medals and 904 for state-level medals, he added.-FMT
