Johor MB praises MCA for solving cemetery issue

Khaled Nordin says instead of provoking the public, MCA had chosen to write to the state government to seek a solution.

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor MCA has been praised for using the right channels to solve the Plentong cemetery issue .

This issue was raised by the opposition parties recently. It concerns the Tiong Hua cemetery in Plentong, which was proposed to be turned into a Muslim cemetery under the draft of the Johor Bahru and Kulai Local District Plan 2025.

Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin said MCA was correct in informing the state government about the issue to find a proper solution to the problem instead of the opposition which had opted to provoke the Chinese community.

He said the issue was a mistake and would be set right.

“Although DAP is making a lot of noise about it and seems to have gained public support compared with MCA, the party’s move in writing in to inform the state government was indeed right and we will rectify it.

“It’s a mistake. The state government will not agree to the idea as the cemetery has long been known as the Tiong Hua cemetery.”

Khaled spoke to reporters after presenting Chinese New Year contributions at Dewan Taman Scientex here today.
