Kit Siang as DPM claim to shock and anger Malays, says Mukhriz

Claims that DAP’s Lim Kit Siang will be the deputy prime minister if Pakatan Harapan wins in GE14 was meant to incite anger among the Malays, said Mukhriz Mahathir.
At a ceramah in Penang last night, the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy chairperson said such claims were “nonsense and illogical”.
Mukhriz expressed shock that such allegations were uttered by former DAP veep Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim, who he once deemed a “towering personality”.
Tunku Aziz had challenged Muhkriz and Kit Siang to make statutory declarations denying a secret pact, which also involved former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, on their alleged ambitions for Putrajaya.
Kit Siang, who is Gelang Patah MP, had threatened to sue Tunku Aziz over the remark.
“When did it happen?” Mukhriz asked, telling the crowd he wanted to clear the air about the false claims.
“Did they fix a camera or recorder during their (Mahathir and Kit Siang) meeting but there was no discussion about this at all?” he asked.
“The claims were made to give the impression that this (Bersatu) is allegedly not a sincere struggle; that we are only in it for our own personal interests.”
The former Kedah Menteri Besar said such claims were made to “shock and anger the Malays”.
Such accusations were meant to incite racism among the people, he added.
Mukhriz pointed out that in 2009, it was MCA which proposed that a second DPM post be created and to be filled by one of its leaders.
“So why accuse us when in 2009 they had requested it first?” he asked.
“Such accusations should not be raised by anyone to create distrust among the races."
Mukhriz was speaking at a ceramah in Taman Tun Sardon, in front of 200 supporters, who came to meet the new party leaders despite the rain.
Taman Tun Sardon is a Malay stronghold, in the heart of Bukit Gelugor, currently held by DAP’s Ramkarpal Singh.
Taman Tun Sardon is also situated in Seri Delima state seat, held by RSN Rayer.
During elections, politicians would stage their campaigns here to win the hearts of Malays.
Since 2008, PAS and DAP would collaborate to organise events in Taman Tun Sardon but last night, the DAP reps sat on the same stage with their new ally.
'Swing of 10 percent in GE14'
Bersatu supporters came in their red shirts and someone remarked that it was confusing, “as red is also Umno’s colour”.
One of the speakers, Siti Halijah, popularly known as “Mami Tanjung”, praised Rayer for being the "YB who helps everyone" regardless of their political affiliation.
Rayer responded later by saying he would consider painting the flats red, Bersatu’s party colour instead of green with a “moon”, which used to represent PAS.
Deputy Chief Minister Rashid Hasnon said Pakatan will see success in the coming polls due to its cooperation with Bersatu.
“There should be a swing of at least 10 percent, if not more, to see the fall of Umno,” said the PKR's Pantai Jerejak assemblyperson.
He urged the 160,000 unregistered voters in Penang to speedily register for their votes to ensure a Pakatan win in Putrajaya.
Parti Amanah Negara vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa said the kampung folks may ask the meaning of “kleptocrat”.
“Simply say that the country’s leader is a rogue, thief, and corrupt, that is the meaning of kleptocract,” quipped the Parit Buntar MP, drawing loud cheer from the crowd.
Ramkarpal called on the crowd not to forget the pioneers of Reformasi which was launched since 1998, by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Bersatu vice-president Hamidah Osman described Najib as a “great actor”, who only promises the moon and stars but do not make them a reality.

She said the National Transformation Programme dubbed TN50 means “Temberang Najib” (Najib’s lies).
“He is a great actor who promises the moon and stars but do not fulfil them.
“It is like he is admitting that he has failed to transform the country, or else why do we need to wait until 2050?” she asked.
“If he had followed Mahathir, we would have achieved success in 2020."
Hamidah warned that GE14 may be the last chance to topple Najib.
“We have no choice, we have to work hard to ensure that Pakatan and Bersatu win Putrajaya in this polls or else we are finished if BN wins,” she said.- Mkini
