Rafizi asks Felda if loss-making RM8.4m condos sold off

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli wants to know if Felda has sold off two luxury condominium units worth RM8.4 million that its subsidiary Felda Global Ventures (FGV) had reportedly bought in 2014.
He said checks on FGV's latest financial reports for the year 2015 showed that the firm still owned the units at The Troika - a building on Lorong Binjai and next to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre park.
"If it has been sold, how much was the cost borne annually?
"As of Dec 31 2015, both apartments did not generate any revenue for FGV and were raking up RM66,000 per year in maintenance costs," Rafizi said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
The first unit was bought at RM5.1 million, while the other was bought at RM3.2 million.
Altogether, FGV bought the units, previously owned by a foreigner, for RM8.43 million on Sept 29, 2014.
He said if the units have not been sold off, then Felda's new chairperson Shahrir Samad should order it to be liquidated.
Rafizi's remarks come two days after Shahrir admitted there were leakages in Felda.
The Felda chairperson also announced efforts to recuperate losses, including through the sale of hotels it had owned in London.
The leakages Shahrir noted came mostly from subsidiary firm Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd.
He has dismissed calls for him to lodge a report with the police or Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the matter.
Shahrir said this is because the leakages were noted by the National Audit Department, and the MACC would have likely followed up on it.

Rafizi said he himself will not lodge a MACC report over the matter, as this would put a gag order on him.
"The MACC Act says that those who make reports can't speak on the matter," the Pandan MP said.
However, he said details about leakages in Felda are already in a police report he filed against the company's officers in late December.- Mkini
