PKR rep probed under assembly act over memo to Felda

PKR's Semambu state assemblyperson Lee Chean Chung and Felda activist Razali Ithnin were today summoned by police to have their statements recorded over their submission of a memorandum to the Felda headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
The duo, who arrived at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 3.05pm, were questioned for around 45 minutes.
"We were called by police to be investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act," Lee told journalists outside the district police headquarters after being questioned.
Lee and Razali, accompanied by some 50 supporters, had on Jan 6 submitted a memorandum to Felda protesting the company's planned acquisition of a 37 percent stake in Indonesian company PT Eagle High Plantations Tbk.

"We gathered (at the Felda headquarters) to submit a memorandum, it was never an assembly," Lee clarified about the gathering last month.
Lee said both of them told police they will only answer questions in court.
They were represented by lawyer Raj Surian Pillai.
Raj said it will be up to the deputy public prosecutor to decide if the duo would be charged after police submit their investigations.
During the Jan 6 gathering, short speeches were held outside the Felda headquarters on the controversial Eagle High deal.
Some of the 50 supporters also carried placards to voice their opposition.- Mkini
