WHOSE TOES DID FEDERAL AGENCY DIRECTOR STEP ON? 6 HOUSES WORTH RM3.3 MIL, TOYOTA ALPHARD & BANK A/CS WITH RM850K SEIZED

KLANG  The Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has seized six houses valued at RM3.3mil belonging to a director of a Federal agency.
The 54-year-old director is currently under remand pending investigations into alleged abuse of power and graft.
According to an MACC source, the houses are located in Selangor, Putrajaya and Negri Sembilan.
Also seized were three plots of land in Kedah and one plot in Selangor.
The MACC valuation team is still determining the combined value of the land, said the source.
It is understood that the MACC has also frozen the director’s and his children’s bank and investment accounts totalling RM850,000.
Also seized were a Toyota Alphard, an Orient and a Chopard watch, a gold bangle, a gold chain and a gold ring.
Selangor MACC director Datuk Wan Ramli Wan Abdullah confirmed the seizure and said investigations were being carried out to determine if the director owned other assets obtained through corruption.
The director was detained at a hotel in Bagan Lalang, Sepang at about noon on Wednesday.
The suspect’s wife, 36, an administrative assistant in the same agency, was also nabbed at her office by the MACC team.
Two company directors, said to have been awarded contracts by the director, were also taken in for questioning.
7 day remand
MEANWHILE, Bernamae reports  the director of a government agency is being remanded for seven days from Thursday to assist in investigations into alleged abuse of power related to the awarding of projects.

Shah Alam High Court senior assistant registrar Yusna Khadijah Md Yusop allowed the application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to remand the man until next Wednesday.
The handcuffed man, clad in purple lock-up attire, arrived at the court complex here at about 10am Thursday. The case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
It is understood that the items seized so far are a Toyota Alphard and several bank accounts totalling RM786,000.
The 54-year-old director was detained at a hotel in Bagan Lalang, Sepang at around noon on Wednesday.
Also detained was the man’s 36-year-old wife, who is an administrative assistant at the government agency.
The director was nabbed as he is believed to have abused his power and position to award contracts to supply equipment to the agency to contractors who had vested interest.
The MACC arrested two company owners believed to have received contracts from the director, in Alor Setar and Shah Alam respectively, between 8.10am and 3.30pm on Wednesday.
According to MACC sources, the company owner who was arrested in Shah Alam is being remanded for seven days from Wednesday, while the one detained in Alor Setar was remanded for seven days from Thursday.
The director’s wife was released after her statement was recorded.
