Another 'pastor' allegedly missing, cops hit brick wall

Police have hit a brick wall in their investigations into the alleged disappearance of a man believed to be pastor, Joshua Hilmy, and his wife.

"We have already interviewed the complainant, and the problem is the complainant cannot give us any information about them.

"He (the complainant) doesn't know the car plate number or their address, something that would give us a head start," Petaling Jaya police chief Mohd Zani Che Din told Malaysiakini.

Malaysiakini had sighted a police report lodged on March 6 by someone claiming to be close friends with Joshua and his wife about their alleged disappearance.

He claimed there was a huge likelihood that Joshua and his wife had been missing since November last year as he had not communicated with them since then.

"This is not normal because we often keep in touch and contact each other at least a few times every month.

"Since November 2016, he hasn't contacted me and my attempts to contact him have failed until today.

"For these reasons, I believe that he and his wife are missing and I am very worried about their safety," the report read.

The man who lodged the report said at first he thought Joshua and his wife had gone on vacation as they were prone to do so with little notice.

However, after speaking to other friends of the couple who were also concerned about their possible disappearance, he was advised to lodge a police report on this matter.

He also confirmed that the police had questioned him but he was unable to provide them with much information about the pastor and his wife.

"Two months ago, his number was with me. I tried calling (him) and I never got any replies.

"Then after some time, I deleted the number so I don't have the number anymore," he said.

The couple also do not have many relatives he could contact, he said.

When contacted, the man confirmed with Malaysiakini that he had indeed lodged the report.

Mohd Zani said that without basic information about the couple, they cannot track down where they live and confirm their disappearance.

"When you contacted me (earlier), I called the investigating officer who called the complainant to ask him again about these information but still nothing," he said.

Another pastor, Raymond Koh also went missing recently and his disappearance has been classified as kidnapping after a CCTV video clip of the incident went viral.

The police are still investigating his kidnapping.- Mkini
