ALOR SETAR: Police detained five motorcyclists for riding their motorcycles in a reckless and dangerous manner in several areas in and around Sungai Petani today.
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said the five motorcyclists, aged between 17 and 28, were detained separately in the operation code-named “Ops Samseng Jalanan”, carried out from 1am to 7am.
“They were riding in a manner which was dangerous to other road users as well as themselves, including performing zig-zag movements and Superman stunts,” he said in a statement today.
Zukir said the motorcyclists, however, tested negative for drugs.
He said the motorcyclists were remanded and the case was being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. -FMT
