Bidding for Bandar Malaysia ends on July 20

Treasury secretary-general says finance ministry still receiving bids for the project.
Irwan-SerigarCYBERJAYA: Companies planning to take part in the development of the Bandar Malaysia project have until Thursday to submit their bids, Treasury secretary-general Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah said.
He said the finance ministry was still receiving applications.
“We will collate them (the submissions) and evaluate them,” he told reporters after taking part in a TN50 (Transformasi Nasional 2050) dialogue here today.
Last month the ministry said it was hoping to attract Fortune 500 companies and those with vast experience to the Bandar Malaysia development.
In May, the government opened up a second tender for companies to bid for the project after the agreement with the initial master builder, IWH-CREC Sdn Bhd, was terminated.
TRX City, which is under the ministry, said on May 3 that the agreement with the consortium of Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd (IWH) and China Railway Engineering Corp (M) Sdn Bhd (CREC) had lapsed due to the failure of the purchasing parties to fulfil payment obligations.
Bandar Malaysia sits on prime real estate in Sungai Besi near the Kuala Lumpur City centre. Its size of 196.7ha is five times the area of the iconic Kuala Lumpur City Centre plus its large park. -FMT
