'Despacito' too hot for Malaysia, says Amanah women's wing

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) women's wing has urged the authorities to ban hit Spanish song Despacito from the airwaves due to its allegedly raunchy content.
Its spokesperson Atriza Umar said the wing viewed this as a serious matter because the song was popular among youngsters who do not understand its lyrics.
"The local radio stations, including the Malay stations, are playing this song, resulting in a phenomenon that is hard to control," she said in a statement today.
Atriza said Despacito and other songs which encouraged sex and violence should be banned, while expressing regret that the relevant authorities had yet to act.

She said the women's wing respected individual rights to be entertained but there should be proper guidelines on forms of entertainment that are not detrimental to the public.
Despacito, or "Slowly" in English, is a song by Puerto Ricans Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee which has taken the US and many parts of the world by storm since its release in January.
It became an even bigger hit after a remixed version featuring Canadian pop megastar Justin Bieber was released in April.
The song is on heavy rotation on Malaysian radio stations.
