KOTA BARU: The ceiling of the paediatric and cancer wards of Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) collapsed on Tuesday but no one was injured by the falling debris.
Hospital director Prof Dr Ahmad Sukari Halim confirmed no one was hurt in the 7.30pm incident when the ceiling came crashing down and windows were shattered following a storm.
The wards are located on the top floor of the six-storey building.
"We have taken the necessary measures to ensure the safety of patients. We have evacuated them to a safer place," he added.
Aina Mardiah, 27, the mother of a patient, was on the bed with her two children when the mishap happened.
"I immediately got up, carried both my children and ran out of the place. My children's safety comes first.
"It was scary," she said, adding that everything happened so quickly.
