NAJIB TO ‘BRAINWASH’ FELDA SETTLERS TO STOP MAHATHIR TSUNAMI? AS SETTLERS CHEER ON DR M & CO, NAJIB ORDERS ‘PSYCHO-PROFILING’ TESTS ON ALL SETTLEMENTS NATIONWIDE

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has announced a RM200,000 allocation for the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to conduct “psycho-profiling” tests at all Felda settlements throughout the country.
The latest initiative for Felda settlers is to enable the government institution to develop new strategies and update their beneficial programs for the group.
“Felda’s aim to become an economic powerhouse should not be through its organisation and its many subsidiaries but through the children of settlers,” he said during his speech when launching the “Akar Kami: Tokoh Profesional Generasi Felda book in conjunction with the Felda Citizen Raya Celebration at Kompleks Perbandanan Putrajaya, Presint 3, Putrajaya, here, today.
The book features the successful stories of 16 Felda first and second generation settlers.
Najib stressed that he wanted Felda’s younger generation to change their mindset by instilling the spirit of exploration in them instead of being bound to the “kampung mentality” in order to achieve greater success in the future.
“If this spirit is channelled with an open mind, filled with knowledge and skills, with good values, and morals, that would be the formula that will drive us to great success,” he said.
Meanwhile, Felda Professional Thinkers Association (Gaprof) research cluster chief Prof Dr Ibrahim Ashaari said the psycho-profiling test was designed to evaluate the humanity and characteristics of an individual.
“I am currently conducting the tests and studies on 12% to 15% of all Felda settlers regardless of which generation they are for the next six months.
“Results of this tests will be presented to Felda and the government for further action,” he said.
On another matter, Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad voiced out his support for Felda Global Ventures Bhd (FGV)’s proposal to hire migrant workers as oil palm pickers due to the shortage of workers from raids on undocumanted migrant workers among others.
“We are supportive and welcome the move. If there is anything that we can help, we would.
“However, operations and responsibilities of FGV are separate from Felda,” he added.
His comments came in light of report which quoted FGV acting chairman Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob saying Felda is suffering millions in daily losses due to a shortage of over 7,000 workers.
