Following a meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons today, Malay Contractors Association of Malaysia president Mokhtar Samad said he was assured that bumiputera contractors would be taken care of by the Pakatan Harapan government.
“(Council chairperson) Daim Zainuddin and the other council members assured me that Malay contractors won’t be left behind.
“(Daim said that) this country is made up of bumiputeras and non-bumiputeras, and whoever who has talent and abilities will definitely be assisted.
“He also said that the new government will help (bumiputera contractors) using better ways than before.
“Daim said not to tell the press the other things we spoke about, as he will tell those things to the press himself,” Mokhtar said when met by members of the press after the meeting at Menara Ilham this morning.
He said he was “satisfied” with his meeting with Daim and in turn, gave his assurance to Malay contractors in the country that the present government was on their side.
“However, bumiputera contractors need to be prepared to take on challenges, (and go by) the slogan ‘success has to based on competitiveness’,” he added. -Mkini
