Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa claimed the party's former Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has gone rogue, but the Rembau MP stressed that he remains loyal to Umno.
Taking to Twitter, Annuar indicated that Khairy was no longer participating in parliamentary discussions with other BN MPs, but stopped short of naming the latter.
Annuar took aim at Khairy's statement about being a credible opposition.
"Is it a credible opposition to act alone? Not to attend the pre-council meeting? Not to join in MPs' discussions?
"When the government does something wrong we just sit by? When our friends stand up (to protest) we just sit quietly?" said the Ketereh MP.
BN MPs had yesterday staged a walkout in the Dewan Rakyat after claiming that the appointing of former Court of Appeal judge Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof as House speaker did not comply with procedures.
However, Khairy and Kimanis MP Anifah Aman refused to join in.
Khairy later said he disagreed with the walkout as any protest can be done during the debate stage, stressing that he wanted to ensure a credible opposition.
However, Annuar mocked Khairy's explanation in a separate tweet, but again did not name him.
"There are those who say that we can record our objections during the debate. Nice, but if a debate is not allowed? (Are we to) sit and just say yes to maintain our machoness?" he said.
Meanwhile, Khairy, when met at the Parliament lobby, stressed that he remains loyal to Umno.
"Certainly not, I am loyal to my party," he said when asked if he was quitting Umno. -Mkini
