WHAT ABOUT JAIL, NOORYANA – WILL THAT BE A DOWNGRADE? BLIND TO NATION’S SUFFERING, NAJIB’S DAUGHTER STILL TRIES TO MAKE A HERO OF HER ‘MO1’ DAD – ‘FOR OTHERS OPPOSITION BENCH A DOWNGRADE … BUT NOT FOR THIS MAN’

THE Najib Razak clan is embracing new beginnings as the former prime minister gets used to being a regular opposition MP in the Dewan Rakyat.
His daughter Nooryana Najib posted a positive message on her Instagram yesterday, saying that Najib would give his all as an opposition member of the House.
“Today will be the first time in our country’s history that an ex-PM will sit on the opposition bloc. If in his shoes, some may find this new role a ‘downgrade’….but, not this man.
“This is merely a new experience for him – ever ready to collectively solve problems, share knowledge and expertise and most importantly provide checks and balances that come with a mature democracy.
Her post was liked by over 2,400 Instagram users. Several also wished Najib all the best, like Afiah Hafiz (efie85) who said it was good that Najib was embracing his new role.
“Healthy democracy needs strong checks and balances. Glad DSN (Najib) is embracing this new role and still passionate towards contributing to the country.
“As a Malaysian, I hope our all of our MPs will sincerely vote based on merits instead of party affiliations. #newtermnewbeginning”
Yesterday was the first day of the Dewan Rakyat sitting, which saw Barisan Nasional MPs sit on the opposite side of the House as the opposition.
BN lost the federal government for the first time in history after it was beaten by the Dr Mahathir Mohamad-led Pakatan Harapan.
The defeat saw Najib lose his powerful position as the prime minister. He took responsibility for the loss and resigned as Umno president and BN chairman.
The opposition in the Dewan Rakyat, largely made up of MPs from BN and the Islamist party PAS, is now led by Umno president and Bagan Datuk MP Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the former deputy prime minister.
Najib has since started to make critical statements against the new government, particularly on the sales and services tax (SST) which will replace the goods and services tax (GST) implemented during his administration.
He has also taken the PH administration to task for making excuses over its failure to keep its GE14 promises, following a report that quoted Dr Mahathir as saying the PH manifesto was just a “guide”.
“It is the intention of the opposition and I to speak out for the rakyat and demand that PH honours its manifesto promises as a promise is a promise,” Najib said on his Facebook yesterday.
