A FRAUD IS A FRAUD IS A FRAUD: NAJIB NOW RUSHES TO WELCOMES SENTUL POLICE ‘DECISION’ NOT TO REOPEN MURDER PROBES, MAKES BARE CLAIM HE ‘WAS NOT INVOLVED’ – BUT DON’T BE TOO HAPPY YET, HARAPAN HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO ORDER IGP TO RE-INVESTIGATE AS MORE EVIDENCE COME TO LIGHT

PETALING JAYA – Questions have been raised on the status of a police report lodged at the request of Najib Razak, after the former prime minister today welcomed a claim that police would not reopen investigations into several high-profile murders.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun was quoted by Bernama as saying that police would go ahead with investigations according to normal procedures, contradicting Sentul police chief S Shanmugamoorthy who was reported by Malaysiakini as saying that cops would not follow up on the report.
Shanmugamoorthy had said there was nothing to investigate based on the aide’s report.
“The police have classified the report as a civil action and have referred it to the magistrate,” he was quoted by the news portal as saying.
In comments believed to be his response to the report, Najib said the public should no longer link him to the high-profile murders.
“It is right, because the truth is that I was not involved in these cases which had been thoroughly investigated and had even gone to the courts,” said Najib.
The police report, which was lodged by an aide to Najib, followed a call by DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang urging for new investigations into the deaths of Altantuya Shaariibuu, Kevin Morais, Hussain Najadi and Teoh Beng Hock.
Their deaths are frequently linked to scandals during the Najib government, including the 1MDB affair and the controversial purchase of two Scorpene submarines from France about a decade ago.
