BN candidate accuses deputy minister of obstructing his campaign

CAMERON POLLS | BN candidate for the Cameron Highlands by-election, Ramli Mohd Nor, today lodged two police reports, including one against a deputy minister, for allegedly obstructing his campaign.
In the first report, the 60-year-old retired senior police officer had alleged that Deputy Water, Land, and Natural Resources Minister, Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji, had stopped the vehicle he and his aides were travelling in while approaching Kampung Koyan, about 6pm yesterday.
"We were blocked by a man who stood on the middle of the road, and when we stopped, we were greeted with a rude voice asking one of my aides to surrender his phone.
"When one of my aides went down from the car to calm the situation, we realised that the man was Tengku Zulpuri, the deputy minister of water, land, and natural resources.
"Then came the provocation where he climbed into our car with the intention to snatch the mobile phone of my aide, and he also uttered bad words at our driver, and the passengers in the car," Ramli alleged.
Ramli also lodged a second report pertaining to the alleged abuse of official resources, where he claimed a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle belonging to the Pahang Forestry Department, was used for campaigning purposes.
Both reports were lodged at the Sungai Koyan police station.
This after images of the vehicle, plastered with Pakatan Harapan flags on its doors, went viral on social media. This raised questions where Harapan was abusing public resources for political purposes.
The BN-led Pahang state government has confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the state Forestry Department, and demanded its return.
At press time, Malaysiakini is unable to obtain Tengku Zulpuri's response, as he is currently at an Orang Asli village in Kuala Lipis, where there is scant coverage. He is expected to be back tomorrow. - Mkini
