Tengku Abdullah leaves question about being next King to God's will

KUANTAN: Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, who will be proclaimed as the sixth Sultan of Pahang on Jan 15, says he is leaving the question about being appointed as the next King to God's will.
After the Sultan of Kelantan, the next in line in the rotation of the nine Malay Rulers are the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan of Johor and Sultan of Perak, successively.
Tengku Abdullah cited Surah Yasin verse 82, which read in part: "His command, when He intends anything, is only to say it: Be, so it is."
"If it is written I will end up there, then there I will be (as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong)," Tengku Abdullah was reported as saying by the official Pahang royalty's portal.

Following the announcement that he would be proclaimed the sixth Sultan of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah said his main focus now was on the proclamation ceremony and his oath-taking on Tuesday.
"From there only I will think of what to do next. At this moment I cannot comment on this matter yet (on the Yang di-Pertuan Agong position)," he said after Subuh prayers at Masjid Imam Ash Shafie Kota SAS on Sunday (Dec 13) morning.
Tengku Abdullah also expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his father, siblings and the people.
"It is a huge responsibility and I will do my best for the people of Pahang.
"Even if I want to promise too much, this is not the time to do it. But I shall give my all in whatever field I undertake," he said.
Sultan Muhammad V stepped down on Jan 6 as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in an unprecedented move.
The Rulers will hold a special meeting of the Conference of Rulers on Jan 24 to choose the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the deputy.- Star
