PUTRAJAYA: Social Welfare Department (JKM) deputy director-general (operations) Zulkifli Ismail has been promoted as its director-general.
He succeeds Mohd Fazari Salleh, who retired yesterday after serving a year as director-general.
Zulkifli’s appointment was based on his performance and extensive experience in the department, as well as his knowledge and credibility, JKM said in a statement.
Zulkifli joined the civil service as an assistant social welfare officer at Pusat Serenti Karangan in Kulim, Kedah, on April 15, 1989.
He had served as the district social welfare officer of Batang Padang, Tapah, Perak, in 1996.
He was appointed as JKM deputy DG (operations) on Feb 14, 2017. -FMT
