Anwar: Allegations linking me to sex videos make no sense

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said the allegations linking him to the spread of intimate videos implicating Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali make no sense.
“You (reporters) can’t say things that are untrue.
“It makes no sense to cast suspicion on someone without any proof,” he said when met at the Malaysian Indian Muslim Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Hari Raya celebrations in Petaling Jaya tonight.
Anwar on June 16 had dismissed allegations that he was the mastermind behind the spread of the videos that triggered the controversy.
The Port Dickson MP again stressed that there is no reason for him or his supporters to be involved in such actions.
“There is already slander, and it cannot be answered with more slander; that’s one. Second, why would we do that? Some people say there is a threat, what threat?” he asked.
Anwar was responding to allegations that the spread of the video was orchestrated by his and PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli's supporters as a character assassination bid against Azmin.
Meanwhile, responding to media reports quoting Australian experts that there is no evidence the videos had been doctored, Anwar said it is better to leave it to the police to determine the video’s authenticity.
“As such, I don’t want to comment on the matter,” he said.
In the same vein, Anwar said party cohesion had not been affected by the scandal.
Party members can think rationally and would not get carried away so easily, he added. - Mkini
