Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin has said his ministry will decide on the fate of his senior private secretary Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz within "one or two days".
Shamsul said his ministry is assessing Haziq’s response to a show-cause letter which was issued to him on June 12.
"We received (Haziq’s) letter last Friday and today is just Monday. The ministry, mainly the human resources division, is examining it," he told media when met in Kuala Lumpur last night.
"A decision will be made in one or two days. We will not take a long time," he said.
In the letter, Haziq had explained that he was depressed after the sex video went viral and needed more time before contacting the ministry, according to Shamsul.
On June 12, Haziq claimed that he and Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali were the individuals in a number of sex videos which had been distributed to the media and PKR personalities through Whatsapp groups.
Hours later, he was suspended by the ministry and given three days to respond to a show-cause letter.
Shamsul explained that action was taken against Haziq as the latter had tarnished the image of the ministry.
He said Haziq had been absent without leave and uncontactable since June 11.
Elaborating further last night, Shamsul did not rule out the possibility of firing the 27-year-old.
"The administration is assessing (the situation) and we will make an announcement later," he said. - Mkini
