JOHOR BAHRU: Jawi script will be used in all correspondence of the Johor Islamic Religious Department and the Johor Islamic Religious Council next year, state executive councillor Tosrin Jarvanthi said.
The implementation would take effect on Jan 1 and would also involve all subsidiaries of the two agencies. It would also affect the kadi’s office, religious schools and texts of speeches,” he told reporters after the launch of the state-level Maal Hijrah celebration at the Iskandar Islamic Center here today.
Tosrin said a committee would also be set up to further promote the use of Jawi in the state.
Menteri Besar Sahruddin Jamal, in expressing support for the move, said it would further empower the use of Jawi script. - FMT
