Cops nab suspect in assault of court interpreter

The victim suffered a fractured nose and bruises on her face.

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a homeless man suspected of assaulting a woman in Klang on May 18, leaving her with a fractured nose and numerous bruises.

North Klang police chief Vijaya Rao Samachulu said the suspect, who was arrested at Bandar Baru Klang at about 5pm yesterday, has 16 criminal records, including for drug use.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the suspect, in his 40s, tested positive for drugs and was being investigated for attempted robbery.

The man is believed to have assaulted court interpreter Fuza Nordin, fracturing her nose and bruising her face, cheek and forehead. She also suffered from bleeding in her right eye and had to have five stitches.

“As soon as she alighted from her car, the suspect came out of nowhere and kicked her from behind,” her husband, Hemi Mohd, told FMT last week.

“When she fell, he snatched a phone from her hand and hit her head repeatedly with it. My wife managed to kick him and fled towards a mall to seek help.”

Hemi said it was not the first time that the suspect had “caused a scene”, claiming that the man would get away “scot-free” because he was considered mentally ill. - FMT
