Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden has been chosen as the new PAS Youth chief, for the term 2023-2025.
Afnan won the post uncontested after his predecessor, Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, decided not to defend the position after serving one term.
The decision was announced by the chairperson of the 69th PAS muktamar election committee, Ab Halim Tamuri.
Manjoi assemblyperson Hafez Sabri was elected deputy youth chief, while Muhammad Hanif Jamaluddin was made vice-chief. Both won without contest.
The two positions were previously held by Afnan (above), and Hanafi Zulkapli, respectively.
A total of 15 candidates contested to fill 12 committee member positions.
Those chosen are as follows:
Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar,Abdul Malik Ab Razak, Wan Abu Bakar Wan Mahussin, Muhd Khidhir Izaidin, Yusof Abdul Hadi, Muhammad Nazrul Hakim Md Nazir, Mohd Harun Esa, Muhammad Faizuddin Mohd Zai, Mohd Aizat Zakaria, Muhammad Abdul Malik Abdul Karim, Hendri Hamshah, and Muhammad Afiq Mazlan.
Four out of the 12 new committee members are newcomers.
The Islamist party is holding its annual general assembly - or muktamar as the party calls it - from tomorrow until Sunday in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Despite being an election year for the party, top posts in the party are not being contested.
