A Perikatan Nasional MP and a businessperson have been summoned to appear at the Shah Alam court tomorrow to face corruption charges related to a feedlot project under the Kedah state government, according to MACC.
"The MP would be charged under Section 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act for abetment in corruption, while the businessperson would face a charge under Section 16(a)(A) of the same Act for soliciting and accepting bribes," said MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki in a statement yesterday.
The graft buster arrested Padang Serai MP Azman Nasrudin on Friday in connection with its probe into the cattle farming joint venture owned by the Kedah state government.
The Bersatu representative later confirmed through a social media posting that he and another individual would be charged in court on Monday.
Azman (above) regarded the action against him as a form of "selective prosecution" and claimed that it was a retaliation after he criticised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on social media over a corruption case involving Anwar's former aide Shamsul Iskandar Akin.
"I see elements of political influence here aimed at tarnishing the image of PN MPs, especially myself," he said. - Mkini
