MANILA (Xinhua): A Malaysian citizen who was trapped in an apartment hotel next to a collapsed building in Angeles City, Pampanga, in the northern Philippines, has died, according to local media on Sunday.

Twenty-six people have been rescued after a nine-storey building under construction collapsed early Sunday in Angeles City.

Twenty-four people were pulled from the collapsed structure, while two others were rescued from the nearby apartment hotel struck by the incident.

The cause of the collapse remains unclear, and earlier reports said debris hampered rescue. -- Xinhua
