AELB: Bukit Merah dumpsite can become a park

The site where the waste from the Asian Rare Earth (ARE) plant in Bukit Merah, Perak is currently stored is safe enough to be turned into a recreational park.

According to AELB director-general Raja Abdul Aziz Raja Adnan, this can be done for the Bukit Kledang waste disposal sight after it has been completely sealed, a move scheduled for next year.

NONE“(The authorities) can turn into a park, a forest reserve or a recreational place. It's no problem. There is no prohibition,” he told reporters at the AELB briefing.

According to Raja Abdul Aziz, the 16 hectare disposal site consist of two engineered cells.

The first engineered cell is used to bury the original components and structure of the ARE under two meters of soil and sealed with concrete.

The second engineered cell will be used for the actual processed waste from the ARE, which was previously stored in chemical safe oil drums in the same site.

The waste will be “stabled” into a concrete matrix to make it “behave like rock”

  1. The sooner you vote these corrupt clowns, manipulators, criminals out the better! All can see who were behind: a) Losses experts assessed at over US100billion = RM300,000 million to corruption in a few decades. b) The illegal outflow of a staggering RM990billion (US$338 billion = RM800million a day) from 8 years alone - 2000 2008. c) The murderers behind Mongolian Altantuya, Ross Boyert (Taib’s former US aide), Manser (native & rainforest activist), Teoh B H & probably Sabah’s Tun Donald Stephens. You would be insane to keep them in government. Am telling you from a neutral, transparent, democratic NZ.
