TREASON BUT THE IGP IS ‘NOT INTERESTED’ – IS IT BECAUSE OF NAJIB LOYALISTS STILL RAMPANT IN THE POLICE FORCE? ANGRY MILITARY VETERANS DEMAND ACTION OVER CIA LETTER

A VETERANS’ group has lashed out at police for the failure to launch an investigation into a letter purportedly sent by the former government’s spy agency to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), calling the inaction “unacceptable” and shocking.
“I am baffled and I am shocked that until today, no action has been taken by the police to investigate or to take action,” said Brig-Gen (rtd) Mohamed Arshad Raji, president of the National Patriots’ Association (Patriot).
Several days ago, copies of a letter allegedly sent by the research division under the Barisan Nasional administration to the CIA director Gina Haspel, were circulated by news outlets.
The letter, dated five days before the 14th general election, requested support for former prime minister Najib Razak’s administration in the event that the results of the election turned out to be close.
“This is treason and this is a serious matter. Sending a letter to CIA asking for help is not a simple issue. Police not acting is unacceptable,” Arshad told The Malaysian Insight.
“If they are not interested, then I should become the IGP.”
Arshad also refuted claims that police can only begin investigations after a report is lodged, adding that he would lodge a police report today to speed up investigations.
“As this is a serious matter, the police do not need an official report to start probing. They can already do their own investigation.”
The Malaysian Insight attempted to contact Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun, his deputy, Noor Rashid Ibrahim, federal Crime Investigation Department chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd and Special Branch director Abdul Hamid Bador for comments, but has yet to receive any response.
Previously, Patriot called on the Najib administration to investigate the “purported covert involvement” of British political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica in the 2013 general election.
“It was fortunate that a month before GE14, Cambridge Analytica got into trouble for mining illegal data of Facebook subscribers and had to wind down its business.
“The dark episode of the covert activities of Cambridge Analytica serves as lesson for our men in the intelligence service, security forces, and those in national security,” said Arshad.
In the three-page letter sent by Hasanah, the intelligence unit requested that the CIA report to the US secretary of state on “the complexity of managing” GE14 and “the need to have US support” for BN.
“Any indication that the US government would continue to support Prime Minister Najib and his government would definitely strengthen our stability and enhance the existing cordial relationship driven by the strong rapport between our two leaders,” it said.
It also referred to Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad as being anti-West, anti-Semite, autocratic and one who uses force to silence dissent
