In recovery mode, Muhyiddin returns to prevent seat vacancy

While still in recovery, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said he was present in the Dewan Rakyat to be sworn in as Pagoh MP yesterday in order to prevent his seat from being declared vacant.
According to Muhyiddin, the seat he held for eight terms would be vacated if he did not take his oath within six months after being elected in the 14th general election.
"I was present in Parliament to take my oath of office as a member.
"Alhamdulillah, my health is improving although I am still in the recovery process. Doctors have advised me to take my time to recover my strength," Muhyiddin told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
"I only spoke to the prime minister because it was important for me to be here. If I was absent for six months then my seat will be vacated," said the Bersatu president who kept a weary smile.
Last month, Muhyiddin had successfully undergone an operation to remove a tumour in the pancreas which was detected at an early stage.
Muhyiddin has been on a one-month leave since July 12 to undergo treatment at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
