Mat Sabu recounts 'unimaginable' luxury while on board Equanimity

Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu today recounted what he described as an "unimaginable' luxury on board superyacht Equanimity which he had the opportunity to visit.
The vessel was handed over to Malaysia by Indonesian authorities, which had earlier seized the vessel suspected of being acquired using misappropriated 1MDB funds by businessperson Low Taek Jho.
"I looked at the ship from outside, it wasn't all that big. But on the inside - my goodness - we can't imagine it.
"There was a lift inside, it had four floors. It also had a jacuzzi and sauna as well as a massage place.
"There was also a huge dining hall. In the bedroom, you could hit a switch and the roof would retract and you can see the stars and moon at night," the minister, who is better known as Mat Sabu, told a Hari Raya Aidil Adha open house event hosted by Klang Bersatu chief Rais Hussin.
As Mohamad recounted this, the crowd gasped in amazement.
The minister noted that the vessel, now at Port Klang, and allegedly acquired using US$250 million (RM1 billion) in funds misappropriated from 1MDB, will now be auctioned off by Putrajaya after receiving the greenlight from the courts.
"I don't know who is going to buy it. Perhaps (Klang MP) Charles Santiago can purchase it and bring his family on a ride," he joked.
Meanwhile, Mohamad admitted that many of the ministers in the new Pakatan Harapan government had no prior experience and had even been ticked off by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohmad for still acting like the opposition.
"We were the opposition for 40 years so it is weird that we are now the government."But we are learning fast, working hard and we are confident that we can restore Malaysia to glory soon," he said.
In May, Harapan and its ally Parti Warisan Sabah ended BN/Alliance's 61 years in power since independence, one of the world's longest-ruling coalition.
