Yoursay: Anwar was the prime mover of new Malaysia

YOURSAY | MPs offer their seats because they want to fulfil the transitional agenda.
RedHero: The transition plan within Pakatan Harapan was agreed upon before GE14 - should Harapan win, Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be PM for two to three years before Anwar Ibrahim takes over, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as deputy prime minister and a full pardon for Anwar. All this has happened.
The second stage of the plan is for Anwar to be PKR president (this is important if Anwar is the PM-in-waiting) and for him to be appointed MP (not a senator or Adun) so that he can play a key role in Parliament affairs and be in the thick of political reform.
So obviously, an MP seat has to be made available to him. If he wins a by-election and elected as MP, Anwar will play a role as backbencher unless Mahathir decides a special minister role for him until the transition takes place.
Anwar was the prime mover of what we are experiencing today, which started 20 years ago and we have seen major shifts in GE12 (2008), GE13 (2013) and eventually in GE14 (2018) with the timely return of Mahathir at the helm.
So, cut Anwar some slack and respect the role that he has played to bring us the New Malaysia. Let the transition take place as planned.
Dominator: MPs are offering their seats because they want to fulfil the transitional agenda voted by the rakyat. The rakyat is not dumb. Plus, two years is not that long.
Anwar should speed up the by-election and get voted into Parliament. That's surely will add “value” to the government.
Bamboo: I fervently pray that PKR members will have the wisdom to pick Rafizi Ramli as the new PKR deputy president.
Rafizi's forthrightness and upright values are sorely needed in this damaged country.
The Reaper: I am very disappointed with PKR! They had two candidates who were already diagnosed with cancer, but they still went ahead to allow them to stand as candidates.
It’s a sheer waste of time and money for this. This shows the kind of leadership, or lack of it, in PKR.
Anonymous_1531693563: A by-election costs taxpayers' money. (Having one on a whim) just to suit one's ambition, Anwar must be insane for power. A back-door minister does not command much respect.
Cogito Ergo Sum: Anwar, what is even more insane is that you think you are ready to serve in the New Malaysia. You are not.
You have shown dangerous traits of your past BN DNA and you have not abandoned your extremist Islamic views. You embrace the royalty as if they were the ones who voted you in.
Anwar, get a proper bellwether of the feelings on the ground before you attempt to be part of this new administration. We like what Tun M is doing so far. We are afraid of what you will do.
Stay away from politics for a while more. Look at what is going on. We were fed up with the weaponisation of race and religion. Please do not ever take us there ever again.
Malaysianmalaysian: Anwar, while being a backbencher 'reforming' parliament, please also get back to the reformist agenda you were promoting before your release/pardon, as now your actions, some of your statements/actions, jetting here and there, hand kissing, praising Recep Tayyip Erdogan (who has jailed many political opponents like you previously were) is contrary to reform.
Phoneix: Anwar ...your time to become PM has come but not quite yet. Even as president of PKR you can institute parliamentary reforms through your elected MPs.
We, Malaysians want you to become the PM through the most honourable route.
Ruben: The current group of leaders, especially Mahathir, worked very hard for Harapan to come into power after GE14. We have many capable leaders in government.
Charges have been made and there is still more work to be done in other important institutions like MACC, Bank Negara, Election Commission, and the judiciary. Changes are needed to be made to the top civil service.
There are more reforms to be made. So Anwar, please do not disrupt or change the government. You promised no meddling in the first two years, please keep your promise.
Anonymousytmq123: An MP resigning to give way for another to contest, is unethical and it goes against the spirit of how the voters had voted for the MP in the first place.
Anonymous 483711436320403: I agree Anwar needs to be back in Parliament as soon as possible to keep Mahathir in check. It's never good to have one person with too much power.
Cry for Malaysia: Anwar dynasty? No way. The rakyat never voted for a husband-wife-daughter team. Let the rakyat decide. No back-door entry.
Don't be greedy and destroy PKR for your selfish agenda. If your wife wants to stay, you should retire. It is equally ‘bengong’ (ridiculous) to expect other to give up the seat when your wife and daughter would not.
Demi Rakyat: Anwar contesting a by-election is not the issue. The question the rakyat ask is – why isn't Wan Azizah or Nurul willing to give up her seat for her husband/father? Why force someone else?
Being Positive: If someone has to give way, it has to be Anwar 's daughter or wife. Not anyone else! Why must all three members of the family be in Parliament? Is that not nepotism?
Either the wife or daughter has to give way. Please do not ask any other representative to give up his/her seat.
Abasir: With Anwar, it has always been "Keadilan" for himself alone. Everything is geared towards serving him and his interests.
When he says the word, any one of his spineless, fawning followers must step down to make way for him. The duplicity of PKR politicians is now out in the open.
So why doesn't your wife or daughter step down? Power hungry? Love the position more than love for the father or husband? And what is your hurry anyway?
Is the country crying for your return at any cost? And what happened to transparency, democracy and all that good stuff?
I Wonder?: If Mahathir is PM and his son, Mukhriz, is Kedah MB and both are from Bersatu, while Lim Kit Siang and his son, Guan Eng, are both MPs from DAP, what's wrong for Anwar, his wife, Wan Azizah, and daughter, Nurul, to be MPs from PKR?
The important thing is that they are of good calibre and clean. Or you still want Najib Razak and the likes? - Mkini
