Ex-Malacca CM cryptic about position in Umno

Former Malacca chief minister Idris Haron is cryptic about his position in Umno following a news report claiming that he is expected to quit.
The Star reported that he might leave Umno based on a text message Idris sent to the publication, which read: "Breaking News!!!!, Ex-CM of Melaka is expected to leave the party."
However, an aide to Idris denied that the latter was referring to himself.
"There is more than one ex-CM, right? No, no, he was not referring to himself," the aide told Malaysiakini.
Meanwhile, Utusan Malaysia, which contacted Idris for clarification on the Star report, quoted him as stating: “Wait first, there are still three other former Malacca chief ministers.”
Apart from Idris, his two other predecessors are Mohd Ali Rustam and Rahim Tamby Chik.
On Saturday, Malacca's fifth chief minister Mohd Adib Mohd Adam had submitted his membership form to join Bersatu.
Umno has been rocked by two major resignations in less than 24 hours and speculation is rife that more MPs and assemblypersons would throw in the towel as well.
Last night, former international trade and industry minister Mustapa Mohamed, who is the MP for Jeli, announced his resignation from Umno.
This morning, former finance minister Anifah Aman, who is the MP for Kimanis, revealed that he has quit as well.
