PETALING JAYA: The four men arrested after firing multiple shots in the air during a ceremony at a temple in Sungai Burong have been released on bail.
Kuala Selangor police confirmed that all four were granted bail after their remand periods expired.
Several videos of a group of individuals using a shotgun to fire about 20 shots into the air during a ceremony at the temple went viral recently.
In one of the videos, a man in red can be seen pointing the rifle in the air and firing one shot; the video then jumps to a man wearing a beige shirt firing two shots in the air before reloading the weapon and firing another shot.
Another video shows a man wearing orange firing four shots in the air, before reloading it and handing the weapon to another man wearing blue. He is seen firing three more shots in the air.
Previously, Kuala Selangor police chief Supt Md Asri A. Wahab said the suspects, aged between 36 and 72, were picked up at the Kuala Selangor police headquarters near here at about 7pm on Thursday (May 16).
"The police have obtained a two-day remand order against the four men, including the owner of the firearm," he told Bernama.
