Haziq faces multiple investigations, including carnal intercourse

The police are investigating Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz over suspicion of committing carnal intercourse and for the distribution of obscene material.
The Santubong PKR Youth chief is also being investigated over suspicion of committing insult with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace and for violating cyber laws.
According to federal CID director Huzir Mohamed, Haziq was arrested at about 6 pm at the KLIA.
Haziq's intended destination was Manila.
In all, Haziq is being investigated under four laws:
1. Section 292, Penal Code - Distribution of obscene materials.
Punishment: Maximum three years jail, a fine or both.
2. Section 504, Penal Code - Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.
Punishment: Maximum two years jail, a fine or both.
3. Section 377B, Penal Code - Carnal intercourse against the order of nature.
Punishment: Maximum 20 years jail and mandatory whipping.
4. Section 233, Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 -Producing content which is indecent, obscene, false, menacing, or offensive in character with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any person.
Punishment: Maximum one year jail, a maximum fine of RM50,000 or both.
When contacted, Huzir said his officers were in the midst of processing Haziq. He could not confirm if the police would seek a remand tomorrow.
The police had attempted to locate Haziq at his home in Kuching on Thursday but was unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Kumar, who claimed to be representing Haziq, said he was unable to determine his whereabouts.
"We will contact the police the first thing in the morning to find out about our clients whereabouts and if he is brought for remand we would attend to the proceedings," he told Malaysiakini.
In recent days, Haziq had claimed that he was in bed with Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali at a hotel in Sandakan on May 11.
In his confession a day after the videos were made public, he claimed that the incident was filmed without his knowledge and distributed the day before.
Azmin has described the allegation as libel with intention to defame him.
Haziq, 27, had lodged a police report yesterday, to reaffirm that he had met Azmin's political secretary Hilman Idham on Wednesday.
He alleged in his report that Hilman had attempted to compel him to deny involvement with the video clip. - Mkini
